Mr. McLaughlin makes a silly promise that he assumes he will never have to keep.  He promises that if he ever sees a purple elephant, the family can keep him.  And guess what.  They find a purple elephant in the park so they bring him home.  The family loves Ollie the elephant and they have such fun together.  But the cat is jealous and convinces Ollie that he is not wanted.  When he runs away, the family is devastated.  Will they ever see Ollie again?
