Korman, Gordon
SON OF INTERFLUX
New York : Scholastic, 1986.
IL YA
Gordon Korman wrote his first book at age 12. This one is his third book. The setting is Nassau County High School for Visual Literary and Performing Arts. It's a high school for kids with special talents in the Arts. Simon Irving is a new kid in the 11th grade. His dad practically owns the town. Interflux, a large multinational which makes such odd things as the teeth to zippers controls the town government. Simon sees a way to use Student Council funds to block the expansion of Interflux which will result in the kids loosing the woods they hang out in. This is a funny book about three guys who take over the use of student money and get the whole school rallied around their cause. If you like school stories from the boy's point of view, read Gordon Korman's "Son of Interflux". You'll like it.
