Josh’s senior year of high school is definitely not going to be what he had hoped it would be. He had planned to spend his time hanging out with is friends, going to ball games and parties. Instead, though, he has decided to try to “start over” by moving to a distant town and living with his crazy, kind Uncle Larry. Josh thinks he has everything covered - he’s going to a new school, taking karate classes at his uncle’s dojo, even making new friends. He should feel better. He WANTS to feel better. But the neighbor’s crying baby, Stella’s smile, visits from his parents and friends - these all bring the past rushing in on him. How could he have done what he did? No matter how far away from home he goes, he cannot escape his memories, or his guilt… (Prepared by: Valerie Boatwright, Liberty High School, valerieboatwright@pickens.k12.sc.us SCASL Young Adult Book Award, 2016) |
