Gerald has been angry so long he can’t remember feeling anything else. He goes through each day just barely holding himself together, hiding in special ed., boxing at the gym, and keeping his eyes down at work. As far as he can tell, he has two possible futures waiting for him: jail or death. What makes Gerald so furious? He has a sociopath for a sister, and no one has ever stopped her from abusing him. When he was in preschool his family signed up for a reality show called the Network Nanny, and all the focus was on fixing Gerald, never mind that Tasha tortured him off camera. Gerald fought back the only way he knew how—right on TV in front of hundreds of thousands of people. And now 12 years later, no one will let him forget the humiliation, so yes, HE IS ANGRY! Amazingly for Gerald there is one person in the whole world who wants to get to know him for his own sake. Hannah doesn’t care about his past. She has a few problems of her own, but Gerald—despite all the odds against him—can’t resist trying to make a connection. Maybe the future holds more possibility than he thought.
