Wyatt finally makes the varsity football team and will get to spend more time with his older brother Brett, the team’s superstar. With their alcoholic father’s job in jeopardy (along with most of the town), football is everyone’s escape, and Brett is their hero. Brett is a great athlete and Wyatt is a large one, still working to improve. His weight makes him a target all the time, but especially in the locker room with Trunk, the starting right tackle who’s got a serious grudge against Wyatt. Wyatt’s life is complicated with hurting his best friend, his new feelings for a girl, and realizing his brother may be risking his life playing with a concussion in the upcoming game that their future -- and the town’s -- is riding on.
