CRY BABY
New York : Avon, 1996.
IL YA
A 15 year old girl named Sam is wanted by her mother to play tennis -- a family tradition. Sam wants to play lacrosse. When she decides to play lacrosse, her mother gets upset and says that she is just doing it to hurt her. Then she finds out that her best friend Patsy has bulimia and Patsy's boyfriend Peter wants to dump Patsy for Sam. Sam is worried for her because she doesn't know if she will do anything to hurt herself. Then when Patsy won't answer the door for Peter or Sam, they get scared. To find out what happens to these three friends, read CRY BABY by Phyllis Karas. (Caitlin C., 8th grade student, Rundlett Middle School, Concord, New Hampshire)
