If you lived in the 1930s in New York City, you may have come across a smartly dressed women walking with a gorilla. Yes, I said gorilla. Gertie Lintz loved animals. Her home included chimpanzees, birds, and lots of other animals. When she adopted a baby gorilla, she fell in love immediately. Buddy was tiny and not very healthy. With the help of the other animals, she was able to raise him up to be a healthy gorilla.  Gertie didn't believe in cages and she raised her animals as humans. They wore clothes and ate at the table. When Buddy grew up, he was very big and sometimes got upset. What will happen when he gets too big to be safe?
