The
summer of 1904 may be the last one that 16 year old Fred Dickinson will
be able to spend at his grandparents' cottage in Ontario. Fred's father
is after him to get a job instead of playing all summer. Fred spends his
summer enjoying being with his family, cousins and friends despite his
feelings of inadequacy because of a stutter and clumsiness. He even experiences
his first love. Throughout the story, Fred is also involved in an old mystery.
This book draws on the diary entries of the real Fred Dickinson who kept
his diary during the summer of 1904. |
