If you like adventure, battles, plot twists, and heroic animals who behave like fascinating humans, but still retain their animal characteristics, you'll love this book. You don't even have to read the other 16 in the Redwall series, but you might want to, because the world Mossflower County and Redwall Abbey is a captivating world.

Rakkey Tam McBurl and his sidekick Wild Doogy Plum speak with Scottish accents and are as wild as the Scottish Highlands. They are warrior squirrels and they come to the rescue when the wicket, flesh-eating wolverine Gulo invades the land in an attempt to kill his brother and capture the Walking Stone and use it's power to rule a huge area.

There are plenty of plot twists to keep you guessing and battles and fascinating subplots.  Colorado Blue Spruce Young Adult Book Award, 2006-2007
