Emily’s parents both die in a plane crash and she must move from the small Pennsylvania town where she has lived her entire life, to New York City to live with her aunt Jolie, a makeup artist to the stars. Emily struggles with feelings of loss and so many changes…a new fancy prep school, trying to fit in with new friends and finding her way around a whole new city. Another big change for Emily is the fact that she’s become something of a pop culture curiosity. Investigators found a message in the plane wreckage. Written in lipstick on a tray table were the words, “Emily please forgive me.” The press quickly determine that the author of the message must be Emily’s mom. Everyone, including Emily, wants to know what she meant by that cryptic message. Emily works to solve that mystery while forging a new life for herself.
