Living on the island of Borneo was pretty great for the four McCready sisters--that is until a tsunami washed their parents away. Now the girls are being sent to live on a farm in British Columbia with the only living relative willing to take them in. Aunt Martha is rumored to be very eccentric, and the girls are not looking forward to this living situation.

 After a long and exhausting flight, the girls finally reach their new home only to discover that their poor aunt Martha has suddenly died of a heart attack! What to do? Well, fourteen-year-old Fiona takes charge and, in an attempt to avoid foster care, decides that the sisters are going to have to keep their aunt’s death a secret. That means fending for themselves--all the cooking, cleaning, and housework. Not to mention getting back and forth to school. Can they really pull this off?
