When Annie's Pa tells them that they are leaving, everyone is a bit sad.  It wasn't unusual during the last part of the 1800s for people to leave the east to find more land on the prairie.  And that's what Annie's pa wanted to do.  But her ma did not want to go.  But the decision was made and the family packed up and headed west.  Annie's ma gets more and more sad as she sees the vast untamed land that was now her home.  As the weeks go by, she gets worse and Annie worries about her.  Is there anything that Annie can do to cheer up her ma?
