This mystery involving a runaway kid the day after his best buddy's body is found, is set in the desert where Zunis believe that the Dance Hall of the Dead is heaven. The Navajo neighbors have to investigate the death and the Navajo policeman doesn't like the finger pointing to the Navajo kid who ran away from home the day after the murder was commited. The chase scenes go into the mountains and into the Zuni celebration dances.
