THE VERY WORST THING

David has been in and out of foster homes for as long as he can remember.  He and his sister Lily were taken away from their mother a long time ago.  Since then, they were shuffled from home to home.  During these moves, David has compiled a list of the very worst things in his life.  But this new move may turn out to be on the top of the list.  Lily is not going with him.  She has run away too many times and now she is in juvenile detention so David is on his own.  But things seem pretty much the same.  A new school.  No friends.  Beaten up by bullies. But things may be different after all.  When David takes the responsibility of hatching an owl egg, he looks forward to finally having something of his own.  But will this home be any different?   Will things turn out just as they always do?
