When it comes to the students at Marquette Middle School, Kacey Simon is the queen bee of them all.  She is popular, styled to the nines and seems to know everything…so much so, in fact, that she has her own show during morning announcements called “Simon Says.”  Sure, she’s not the nicest of girls, but people tend to put up with that to stay amongst the top.  Karma, however, has different plans for Kacey.  A problem with her colored contacts has left Kacey with an eye infection, which require her to wear glasses (and they are definitely coke-bottle thick lenses on her) for weeks. On top of this, Kacey also finds out that she needs braces to get her teeth in line! This might not be so bad if they didn’t give her such a horrible lisp in the process, knocking her off any camera time.  As her friends start to desert her once her popularity wanes, Kacey finds out how her past actions have really hurt others. She makes a stand to make things right with the help of her long lost friend, Paige, and Zander, the new boy in school. (for 2014 Louisiana Young Readers’ Choice nominee)
