Wouldn’t it be cool if right before a test you didn’t study for or right before a bully hit you, you disappeared into thin air? Aaron Hartzler is a Christian and grew up thinking that at any moment Jesus might reach down, grab his whole family and take them to heaven. At first the idea was great and he couldn’t wait, but as Aaron got older, he started to think about all of the things he hadn’t gotten the chance to do yet. When Aaron turned sixteen, he discovered that he really wasn’t ready to go to heaven and started to doubt he ever would be ready. Aaron begins to enjoy more of the less Godly activities such as sneaking out of the house to be with girls and partying with friends who were not on his parents approved lists.

Eventually, Aaron realizes that life is far more complicated than he thought and he discovers that there is a middle ground. Aaron finds out who he is inside and comes to grip with the startling discovery of his own beliefs. He learns to make his own decisions about life, faith, and his loving family.  (Pennsylvania Young Reader's Choice Award, 2015)
