Dory Fantasmagory is struggling with learning to read. She envies some of her friends and classmates that are already reading chapter books. Dory, however, has to read a “babyish farm book” with her new reading buddy and old friend, George. As Dory’s imagination runs wild, she literally goes into the book, bringing a black sheep she names Goblin back to reality with her. Suddenly, Dory’s nemesis Mrs. Gobble Gracker turns up and tries to kidnap Goblin. Will Dory’s determination to learn save Goblin and put an end to Mrs. Gobble Gracker’s antics?
