Have you ever moved from one place to another.  Maybe it was in the same town or state, but maybe it was to a whole new state.  In 1933, a drought and the great Depression caused a lot of people to leave their homes in search of a better life.  And Sadie's family is no exception.  They are leaving their Missouri home and heading for Texas where they hope to find work.  Sadie promises her best friend that they will be best friends forever and that she will never forget her.  But when Sadie reaches her new home, she may find that she can not keep that promise.
