Umberto can't believe what he's hearing.  He knows he shouldn't listen to his parents' private conversation but he can't help it.  They are talking about him.  He and father will be sailing to America in just a few short weeks.  The year is 1892 and the family had moved from Italy to France to find work.  Umberto doesn't remember Italy but he knows his parents miss Italy very much.  Now his father will move the family to America to find work.  Father has a job on a ship and will work his passage.  He will take Umberto with him.  When he saves enough money, Mother and Joseph will follow.  But all does not go as planned.  Will the two make it to America?  Will they greet Lady Liberty?  It is important to greet Lady Liberty to ensure that your new life will be successful.  But, it may not be possible.
