The promise is the one God made to Abraham in the Book of Genesis to give him and his descendants "a great nation and a source of blessing to all."  The fulfillment of that promise is the creation of the Jewish homeland of Israel.  Of course, this did not happen without the hard work and dedication of many people.  Some of the prominent names in the history of Israel are Theodor Herzl, Chaim Weizmann and David Ben-Gurion.  Here are their stories.
