Jin is desperate to find her sister within the environs of Hak Nam Walled City, a lawless “city within a city” inside Hong Kong. Her father has sold his eldest daughter to the “Brotherhood of the Red Dragon,” the most ruthless of the Triads in power. To survive long enough to find her sister, Mei Yee, Jin disguises herself as a boy. She ventures out into the overcrowded city each day, searching for clues as to her sister’s whereabouts, while trying to avoid violent criminals who roam the mean streets. Jin finds an accomplice and protector in Dai, a boy who seems to have his own secret agenda. Together, they devise a plan to wrest Mei Yee from the clutches of the Brotherhood, putting their own lives at risk. But they can’t afford to delay their rescue effort, since they must race against the clock to carry out their plan before the Walled City is completely demolished.
