This
exciting book starts with a plane crash which is carrying young boys when
a malfunction occurs and they are thrown on an island with no adults to
care for or discipline them. Quickly they group together the survivors
and start to build huts and find food. One young boy, Ralph, is chosen
as a leader and quickly takes control. He organizes a search party and
they report back and confirm the island is uninhabited. Many trust these
boys, but the younger ones say they have seen things and quickly stir up
a lot of argument. So are these boys alone? Will they survive long enough
for a rescue? (Steven M Giles, Mansfield High School student) |
