Many years ago, buffalo used to run wild in Texas.  Their sounds filled the air and entertained a young woman who was making her life on the land.  But the sounds of the buffalo were soon replaced by the sounds of gun shots and buffalo running for their lives.  Men had come into Texas to hunt buffalo for the money the hides would bring.  Within a few years, the buffalo were just about gone.  But that didn't stop the young woman who started to nurse young buffalo calves and protected the few that were left.  This is based on the live of Mary Ann and Charles Goodnight who really did try to save the buffalo of Texas.
