Tendai,
Rita, and Kuda have lived their young lives inside the walled fortress
called home. Their powerful father, General Matsika, is afraid that
his enemies will kidnap his children. His fears come true when the
children connive to leave the compound so Tendai can earn his Eagle Scout
badge. They haven’t been in the city long when they are abducted.
The General and his wife hire the Ear, the Eye, and the Arm Detective Agency
to find their children. This trio’s extraordinary abilities
are the result of their mother having drunk water contaminated by plutonium.
In the meantime, the three Matsika children have been taken to Dead Man’s
Vlei and the She Elephant where they toil all day digging for plastic in
the ancient garbage dump. They finally escape from the vlei, only
to find themselves in a more benevolent imprisonment in Resthaven.
Once they escape Resthaven they are imprisoned by the Mellower’s mother
and catch chicken pox. Finally, they are recaptured by the
She Elephant to be sold to the gang known as the Masks. All the while,
the Ear, the Eye, and the Arm are one step behind the children—will they
ever catch up? Will Tendai earn his Eagle Scout badge? Read
The Eye, the Ear, and the Arm to find out. (Mary Huebscher, Librarian,
