#1
A week after the events in City of Ashes, the Lightwoods, Clary, and Jace are about to go through a portal to Alicante, the ancestral home of the Shadowhunters. However, Clary is not supposed to be there. When the portal is opened early and Clary misses her entry, she finds a way to get there on her own, but lands in Lake Lyn, the lake from which the angel Raziel emerged to create the very first Shadowhunters. The water makes her sick and she must rely on Luke and his family to survive. Meanwhile, Simon, who also is not supposed to be there, is imprisoned, and the Lightfoot family meets young Aline Penhallow and her mysterious cousin Sebastian Verlac. Once they are reunited, Clary and Jace search for the means to cure her mother (who is in a magically induced coma), but Sebastian finds his own ways to help that do not always please Jace. Yet, as they discover a powerful book of magic, an ancient angel, and face their evil father, Valentine, once again, Jace and Clary must also confront their feelings for each other. In the end, the City of Glass is in danger and it is up to Jace and Clary unite the Shadowhunters and Downworlders in order to save them all. What will they sacrifice in the process? (Book Talk Author: Kari Hagman, The Colorado Blue Spruce Award nominee 2012) Booktalk #2 The final book in the Mortal Instruments trilogy follows City of Bones and City of Ashes , which I would highly recommend reading before tackling the finale. In City of Glass Shadowhunters Clary and Jace join forces with the downworlders (vampires, werewolves and fairies) to defeat, Valentine, the evil Shadowhunter who is trying to gain control by obtaining the three Mortal Instruments. Valentine only has to find one more Mortal Instrument which will then make him unstoppable. They all meet in Idris, the City of Glass, to battle for control of the world. Clary’s mother is still in a coma and Clary is searching for a potion which will cure her. She is also struggling with her romantic feelings for Jace whom she thinks is her brother. As all the Shadowhunters and Downworlders prepare to fight Valentine and his demon army, Clary attempts to use her powers to summon an angel who will either save or destroy them all. Fans of the series will delight in this terrific final chapter! (Book Talk Author: Sharon Nehls, The Colorado Blue Spruce Award nominee 2012) |
