ISBN 0425170349
At the heart of Clancy's novel is John Clark, ex-Navy SEAL, a.k.a. "the dark side of Jack Ryan". Clark has left the CIA to create an international terrorist-fighting organization known as “Rainbow”. Its mission is to stop terrorism through the latest in specialized training and technology. Rainbow diffuses three attempted terrorist actions in quick succession, but the sudden emergence of so much terrorist activity raises questions about a conspiracy. When Rainbow is attacked by IRA terrorists at its own base in England, Clark begins to unravel the power behind the outbreak of activities. A group of radical environmentalists has schemed to reduce the world’s population down to a few thousand, thus saving the planet from its human malefactors. It is up to Rainbow to end the threat of environmental terrorism posed by the group.

Rainbow Six is fast paced, readable, and has all of the state of the art technology that Clancy fans have come to expect. it’s length, adult themes and language make it most appealing to high school readers and mature middle school readers.,( Colorado Blue Spruce YA Book Award, 2003)
