Born during a hurricane on the island of St. Thomas, Caroline is raised by her father, because her mother abandoned her at a young age.  She has no solace at school either, as she is picked on for being the darkest person in her class, until a new girl named Kalinda moves to her island from Barbados. The pair embarks on a journey to find Caroline’s mother  During that journey, she finds out a lot about her parents, and herself. (New Jersey Garden State Children's Book Award 2021)
