ME TARZAN
New York : HarperCollins, 2000.
IL 3-6, RL 5.5
ISBN 0060287071
Dorothy is just sitting in class during auditions for the class play when she realizes that Dwayne, her enemy since her first day in school, is trying out for Tarzan.  He gives a wimpy little yell ah-ah-ah, like you would do at the doctor’s office according to Dorothy.  So Dorothy decides to try out for the part of Tarzan herself.  She stands up and something wild comes over her.  She throws back her head, her hands go to her chest, and she yells AHHHHH-AHH-AHH-AAHH-AHHHHH-AHH-AHH-AHH-AHHHHHHHHHH!  After that there was no doubt in anyone’s mind who will play Tarzan.  Dorothy’s yell gets bigger and bigger each time she does it.  At first it seems to wake up the class hamster that no one has been able to get moving for weeks, then it attracts the neighborhood dogs and cats to her house, but when the circus comes to town – well, you can imagine what it attracts then.  If not, read the book!  (Beth Lindsay, Senior Librarian, Youth Services, South County Regional Library blindsay@leegov.com, Sunshine State list 2003-2003 Grades 3-5)
