The
impetus of the book came out of the author's search for her family history.
She knew that her family were part of the war effort during World War II
but while researching their role, she found a disturbing trend. She
found that African Americans were segregated from other troops. She
found that they were often excluded from events that other soldiers enjoyed.
She set out to write about the African American heroes and that is just
what she did. Learn about some of America's heroes that you may not
have met. |
