Summer is not looking great for Celie.  Its 1943 and there's a war on.  Even though the war is being fought across the ocean, Celie can't help worrying about the possibility of it coming to Massachusetts.  Her brother can't wait to enlist and go to war.  And her best friend has moved away.  But then her father brings home a surprise.  A little monkey all the way from India.  Celie instantly fall in love with her new pet and now things aren't so lonely.  But Charley the monkey is a real handful.
