 Artist Ashley Bryan has given us many wonderfully illustrated books.  Three times he has been honored with the Coretta Scott King award.  This autobiography tells of his life growing up in New York City.  His family may have been poor, but they enjoyed life.  During the Depression, Ashley was encouraged to take art classes that were offered free to the children in the neighborhood.  From free lessons to a scholarship to Cooper Union college, Ashley refined his craft and shared his passion with others.
