Tim Bowler’s supernatural thriller Frozen
Fire is
still popular several years after its 2006
publication. When Dusty hears the last words spoken by
her missing brother, “I’m sorry, little, Dusty,
Goodbye, little Dusty, from a stranger on the phone,
she knows she should hang up, but she is
transfixed. The boy on the phone says he has
taken an overdose of drugs and is dying. Dusty hears a
noise that leads her to believe he is in the park
across from her house and she goes out into a snow
storm to find him. The supernatural puzzle that
evolves keeps Dusty following clues that she hopes
will lead to her missing brother. She is sure
that the stranger has the answer and refuses to give
him up to the police or the gangsters who are after
him. They say he is guilty of several horrible
crimes, but she is not sure that‘s true. This
supernatural mystery will keep readers turning pages
as the tension builds to a bizarre climax. (Sharon Nehls for Colorado
