Told in a series of letters, we meet Eldora who has just moved to California from Massachusetts.  Her guardians have moved to San Francisco for a better life.  Gold has been discovered and many people are coming in hopes of striking it rich.  Eldora meets an assortment of people during her time in San Francisco but one person she never expects to meet is her mother.  No one knew she was even alive but to find her in California is extraordinary.  Come inside as Eldora tells of life during the 1850s during the gold rush.
