Have
you ever dreamed of being in a rock band? Are you thinking of the glamorous
lifestyle and famous people that you could meet? Well, Kaye Fierch’s
mother has been in several bands and all it has ever meant to them is stale
beer, smoky bars, and moving around all the time. After the band’s
last gig in the city, mom’s loser boyfriend unexpectedly tries to kill
her. The girls are so freaked out, they head for the family home
on the New Jersey shore...and that’s when the real trouble begins.
Turns out that Kaye is not human at all and the murder attempt was just
a ploy to bring her back. She’s a faerie changeling who was traded
with her mother’s real daughter as an infant. There’s trouble brewing
in faerie land and nothing is what it seems...old friends can betray and
“enemies” aren’t always bad. To see how Kaye learns to master her
powers and avoid being a human sacrifice (all while falling in love!),
read Tithe by Holly Black. (Rachael L. Bohn, rbohn@loudoun.gov,
