The year is
1776 and 14 year old Samuel is a slave on a farm in
Brooklyn. Samuel has been separated from his family
and friends and hopes that one day he may be free
to go where he wants and see whom he wants. When
the Declaration of Independence is posted near the
farm, Samuel's owner tears it down and Samuel
wonders if the word liberty is meant for Africans.
When the fighting reachers Brooklyn, Samuel uses
his owner's boat to rescue many American soldiers.
One of the soldiers turns out to be Major Mordecai
Gist who asks Samuel to join the Americans as a
boatman for General George Washington. Join Samuel
as he goes from slave to hero in SAMUEL'S
CHOICE.
