Old Noelie Houle lives in the rundown farm on the corner of Lucy Little Road. Her neighbors complain about the peeling paint and ramshackle appearance of the home, but mostly they hate her herd of white goats, the aggressive grey goose and the noisy chickens that often escape and damage their yards.  Come meet this kind-hearted woman who lives very simply caring for her beloved goats and birds, misunderstood and shunned by her neighbors.  Thanks to two new neighbor children and their mother who befriend the elderly woman, the surrounding community finally learns about Noelie’s many contributions from providing goats to developing countries through the Heifer Project as well as goat milk and cheese for needy people nearby.  (Jean B. Bellavance for Pennsylvania Young Reader's Choice Awards, 2007-2008)
