Melba Pattillo Beals knows what is it
like to feel fear, but she never let it keep her down.
This book is an amazing story about the horrors and
injustice that Melba faced growing up. Despite it all, or
maybe because of it, young Melba was a warrior for civil
rights. Can you imagine being one of only nine people to
go to a school where many people didn’t want you? That is
what Melba did, but she faced many obstacles and terrors
leading up to that moment she became part of the Little
Rock Nine. Read about her story in March Forward Girl:
From Young Warrior to Little Rock Nine. (Oklahoma Sequoyah Book Awards, 2020) |
