Meet four children who are living different lives.  The story begins on September 9, 2001.  Sergio is heading home from Chicago.  He has won a math prize and gone to Chicago as the prize.  Naheed is starting middle school in Columbus, Ohio and trying to figure out where she fits with all the kids. She is being bugged by a girl who wants to be her friend but keeps asking about the hajib that she wears.  Aimee is starting a new school in L.A. and she is finding it very different from her old home in Chicago.  She would love to talk to her mother but she is on a business trip to N.Y.  And Will lives in Shanksville, PA and he is struggling with the death of his father. All these children will be connected to events that change all the lives on September 11.
