Booktalk #1

Are you an arachnophobic or an arachnophile? Do you hate spiders or do you love them? Either way you will love learning about them in I’m Trying to Love Spiders. Did you know that spiders liquefy their food using their venom? They eat 75 pounds of bugs a year. There are about 40,000 species of spiders including the writing spider, the golden wheel spider, and the assassin spider. Spiders are amazing because they can spin silky food- trapping webs from the protein that their bodies make. They have eight eyes. Their scopulae help them stick to walls and ceilings. What a superpower! The author unfortunately has a lot of trouble not squishing spiders. Her book is full of illustrations of squished spider blots. By the end of this book though, I bet the author will convince you to LOVE learning about spiders.
