In an alternative, steampunk England, we are introduced to two  siblings who are living in Bath in the aftermath of the human-faery war.  Bartholomew and Hettie are changlings, or peculiars who are half human and half faery.  Hated by both the humans and the faeries, the two have been taught to stay in the background and don’t get yourself noticed or you’ll be hanged.  When Hettie is kidnapped by a lady plotting against the changelings, Bartholomew teams up with another outcast to try to find her. 

 

Fans of steampunk and those who like books like Graveyard Book.  The author was only 16 when he wrote this!
