SPLIT INFINITY
New York : Ballantine, 1982

Caught
between two parallel realities, Stile had to get through challenges in
both worlds in order to survive. In the technological world, Proton, Stile
was an adept player at their favorite pasttime, the great Games.
Each round of play brought about unique challenges and goals. Success
required a player to be versatile in countless areas, as the challenges
could be anything from ice climbing or rocket racing to intellectual puzzles.
...and Stile needed to win the Games! In the mythological world,
Phaze, Stile's alternate self had already been killed, and he was to be
next unless he could become master of the sorcery that threatened him!
With only a werewolf and unicorn to help him, he had his work cut out.
If you like Split Infinity, there's more to be read - it's the first of
six books in Piers Anthony's "Apprentice Adept" series. (Brian Blum
