Ruby knows no other life besides the Bayou. She has always lived with her Grandmere Catherine . Ruby never met her mother or father but she loves living with her Grandmere. Grandmere Catherine is a healer. She's a legend in the eyes of the bayou people but most of all she encourages Ruby's painting. Then one day Ruby sees a picture of her father and aa six year old girl is standing next to him. Strangely, that girl is identical to Ruby which she was that age. Ruby does not recall ever being in such a grand house. The grandmother tells her of Ruby's mother's terrible tragic short life. Ruby must come face to face with these terrible revelations. Grandmere Catherine makes Ruby promise to leave if anything happens to her. Something does happen and Ruby is left to live with awful Grandpere Jack. Ruby runs away to find her father in New Orleans. She find she has an evil twin sister who thrives on making Ruby's life miserable. To find out the rest of the story, read RUBY by V.C. Andrews.
