Lucky Eugene wins an all expense paid trip to Bermuda. “Terrific,” he grumbles, “I’ll probably get really nasty sunburn.” Actually he gets much more than that. When his ship becomes wrecked on a tiny deserted island, he is the only passenger who is not rescued. Poor Eugene is forced to remain alone on the desolate island.  His luck finally improves though, when he meets a clever parrot that hatches a plan for an escape. Is it possible for ill tempered Eugene to find happiness in this very witty story?  (Jean B. Bellavance for Pennsylvania Young Reader's Choice Awards, 2007-2008)
