If
you've ever had conversations with your mom that proved less than satisfactory,
you'll identify with Kelsey in this book. She's 15 and has an older and
younger sister. Her mom, a math teacher, seems to have enough of dealing
with kids at school. When she gets home, she expects perfection from Kelsey.
The conversations between Kelsey and her mom are so believable, I began
to squirm in my seat, recognizing how nagging parents can get every once
in a while! In this setting, Kelsey's strength to keep peace among her
friends doesn't get much chance to grow. Her parents have moved to New
England and her Cincinnati friends aren't there with her. Gabe enters the
picture. He's her sister's age and has family problems of his own. Kelsey
is challenged to stretch herself to help him out while struggling with
her own problems. |
