Who doesn’t like a book about baseball? This biography is about one of baseball’s greatest triumphs and tragedies: Roy Campanella. Everyone knows Jackie Robinson was the first African-American to play professional baseball, but what they don’t know is Roy was the first African-American catcher to integrate the Major leagues, and not surprisingly, he played along side Jackie Robinson on the Brooklyn Dodgers. Campy, as he was known, played for the Dodgers until a tragic car accident in 1958 changed his life forever, and perhaps, the history of baseball.
