Something old, something new, something borrowed, ewww! Abby cannot believe it, but her 21-year-old sister, Carol is getting married. Abby and Carol have watched every bride-to-be to come through their parents’ wedding chapel business become a Bridezilla, and now Carol is doing the unthinkable by getting married! What about the pact they made as young girls to never get married? Is nothing sacred?

In the meantime, Abby has a secret crush on Noah, the son of the baker who creates the spectacular wedding cakes. Sometimes she thinks he likes her, too, but then she’s sure he doesn’t. It doesn’t help that he thinks she likes Christopher, who is just a friend. And, there is a strong possibility that Abby could be going to Italy next year with Christopher and her other best friend, Delilah on an exchange high school program.

The Bridesmaid is a light hearted look at wedding preparations gone bad, including nominees for the most horrendous Mother-of-the-Bride, temper tantrums complete with flying plates and really, really ugly bridesmaids’ dresses.  (Melissa Bowman, Melissa.Bowman@pisd.edu, Armstrong Middle School,  Lone Star Book Award nominee, 2006-2007)
