Christmas stories to convert to puppet shows


  • A WISH FOR WINGS THAT WORK by Berkley Breathed,
  • CHRISTMAS TROLLS by Jan Brett
  • Elves & the Shoemaker
  • Frog and Toad:  Christmas Eve," which is in "Frog and Toad All Year" by Arnold Lobel.  Toad imagines that terrible things have happened to Frog on his way over for Christmas Eve.  Frog arrives on time and gives Toad a clock for a Christmas present so he won't worry needlessly.
  • Harvey Slumpfenberger's Christmas Present" by John Burningham is fun.  Santa forgets to deliver one present, and makes a long journey back from the North Pole to do it.  In the book he gets help from a motorcyclist and others.
  • Mole and Troll Trim the Tree by Tony Johnston.
  • Santa's New Suit by Laura Rader. Characters include Santa (with several different new suits), Mrs. Claus, a salesman, 3-4 elves, 3-4 reindeer, 2-4  children and the narrator.
  • That's not Santa" (Santa's suit was sent to the cleaners by Mrs. Claus, and he tries on a number of outfits (cowboy, etc.)  Each time he tries on something, the elves & reindeer say, "That's not Santa".
