Thanksgiving
(Elementary)
- Turkey Girl / Baker
- Sometimes It's Turkey, Sometimes It's Feathers / Balian
- How Many Days to America? / Bunting. (...the one I
always use with fifth graders. It's very meaningful)
- Turkey for Thanksgiving / Bunting
- Visit to Grandma's / Carlson (1st grade)
- Cranberry Thanksgiving / Devlin
- Great Green Turkey Creek Monster / Flora (It has
NOTHING to do with Thanksgiving, but I love to read it to whatever
grade will listen. I find 2nd-3rd Grade really get into the story
about the Great Green Hooligan Vine taking over the town of Turkey
Creek. And it's so old that it's only two-color, but the story is
sooo good and silly.)
- Ox cart Man / Hall
- I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Pie / Jackson (I'm
using it with my K-3's today. When my clerk was almost falling off
her stool laughing, I knew the kids would like it.)
- 'Twas the Night Before Thanksgiving / Pilkey (I love
to use it with the kids. I also try to find copies of the artwork
that he is spoofing ("American Gothic" and "Starry Night", etc.))
- One Terrific Thanksgiving / Sharmat (1st or 2nd grade;
show the video)
- Thanksgiving at the Tappleton's / Eileen Spinelli ("for
funny")
- Rumpelstiltskin's Daughter / Stanley (this is a leap,
but it's feeding the hungry)
- Thy Friend Obadiah / Turkle
- Across the Wide Dark Sea: The Mayflower Journey / Van
Leewen ("for serious")
- Meanest Squirrel I Ever Met / Zion
