Booktalk #1

The Last Olympian is the final installment in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, and boy is it fitting. First of all, Percy finally learns the full prophecy about himself:

A half-blood of the eldest gods
Shall reach sixteen against all odds
And see the world in endless sleep.
The hero’s soul, cursed blade shall reap.
A single choice shall end his days,
Olympus to preserve or raze.

But immediately, people are talking about how maybe it isn’t actually about Percy. Regardless, Kronos is coming and most of the Gods are off battling another titan on the other side of the country, leaving Mount Olympus basically unguarded. So guess who gets to lead the battle when the army arrives? Yup, Percy.  (Colorado Blue Spruce Young Adult Book Award, 2011)

Booktalk #2

The Last Olympian is about Percy Jackson a kid that used to be a boy with problems.  But then one day he is attacked by a demon which he has no idea who it is or what it is.  Then it seems like everyone knows something he doesn't because everyone panics.  Then he is taken to a camp and at this camp Greek mythology class comes to life!  It turns or he is the son of the sea god Poseidon.
Through out these books he becomes a powerful warrior, even as powerful as a titan.  In this book the gods decide to attack the super titan Typhon.  Because of this they are leaving New York City and the grand Mount Olympus unguarded.  Percy now has to save the world and the Greek world by fighting the all-powerful Titan Lord Kronos and is grand army.
This book is all about adventure, romance and, betrayal.  I liked this book specifically more then the others because in the other books he is small and insignificant.  Time has changed and now some gods can't look him in the eyes, and some dare think he might be able to match The Lord of Time??.. Kronos.  Read this book and you will find out if he succeeds in his quest???. Or fails.  (Jay G., K-12 student)

Booktalk #3

The Percy Jackson series has been entertaining many people since it first came out with the author of Rick Riordon. In the first book Percy finds out he’s a demi-god and goes to the underworld to return a stolen object. Next, in the second book Percy goes to the sea of monsters to save Grover. Third, Percy has many adventures to find his friend Annabeth. Fourth, Percy, Annabeth, and Grover venture into the labyrinth to find Daedalus. Finally in the fifth book ,”The Last Olympian”, the war is still going on. So far the gods are losing against the titans. Some demi-gods and gods are joining Kronos, the titan lord.  Percy, Annabeth, Grover and Thaila are sent to defend the empire state building because it is the entrance to Olympus.
I recommend this to people who like action, adventure, and a little bit of fighting. I love this book very much and I would recommend this to anyone but I would suggest reading the rest of the series first. There is an epic battle at the end you don't want to miss!  (Tommy K., K-12 student)
